Modern Drives & Controls designed and built bespoke 15 kW DC injection braking control panels for Silvaflame, for use with radial drilling machines.
DC injection braking provides a method of bringing an AC motor to a controlled stop by applying direct current to the motor windings. It can be used in applications where reducing the time taken for machinery to stop is important, subject to the motor, braking system and machine requirements.
Bespoke braking panels for industrial machinery
These panels were built around the requirements of the application, bringing together the control components, protection devices, transformer equipment and braking components in a dedicated enclosure.
The panels incorporate components from a range of established manufacturers, including ABB contactors and push buttons, an Omron timer, GE circuit breakers, WAGO terminals and an nVent HOFFMAN enclosure measuring 500 × 400 × 210 mm.
Transformer equipment from Foxtam and Electrowind, together with a rectifier and resistor, forms part of the overall assembly.
